Hi, I'm Cami
I make paintings and illustrations that feel like a slow exhale — soft, warm, and a little dreamy.
How it started
I've been drawing since I could hold a pencil. As a kid, I filled notebooks with characters, flowers, and imaginary places — not because anyone asked me to, but because it was the only way I knew how to make sense of the world.
Watercolor found me in my early twenties, and something clicked. The way the pigment moves on wet paper — unpredictable, alive — felt like the opposite of trying too hard. I've been chasing that feeling ever since.
Today I work from a small studio filled with natural light, dried flowers, and far too many brushes. I paint what I love: botanicals, quiet interiors, soft portraits, and the occasional thing that doesn't have a name yet.
How I work
Gather & observe
Everything starts with looking. I collect references — flowers from the garden, photos from walks, scraps of color that catch my eye. I let things sit until they start to speak.
Sketch loosely
I sketch with a light hand — just enough to find the composition. I don't want the drawing to be too tight before the paint arrives. The brush needs room to surprise me.
Lay in the washes
The first washes are the most exciting. Wet on wet, letting colors bloom and bleed. This is where the painting finds its mood — I try not to interfere too much.
Build & refine
Layer by layer, I bring in detail and depth. I know a piece is done when adding more would only take something away.
